The Importance of Volunteering

For You

Volunteering gives you the chance to broaden your horizons, get outside, and make memories!

For Us

Running a sanctuary takes a lot of work and we are always ready to welcome more help!

For Them

Our residents benefit from having new people to meet and learn that new doesn’t mean scary! Some our animals have learned that new people like to pet them!

Commitment to Volunteering

While trying new things is always good, we need volunteers that are willing to commit to helping.

Monthly, weekly, and even daily volunteers are needed.

Animal Caretaker Volunteers

These volunteers will have the most hands-on experience with the animals.

Volunteers will NOT be able to ride horses at the sanctuary.

Experience Required: None but must love animals

Animal Interaction: Horses, pigs, goats, sheep, alpacas, a llama, ducks, rabbits.

Example of Duties:

  • Letting animals out and rounding them up to go in

  • Mucking stalls

  • Brushing the animals

  • Performing wellness checks

  • Putting out hay bales

  • Cleaning pens

  • Watering/feeding

  • Enrichment (yes, playing with the animals)

Virtual Volunteers

Do you live too far away or have no transportation but still want to volunteer? There are plenty of ways to help without coming to the farm!

There plenty of tasks that happen behind the scenes that are just as important as caring for the animals!

These are some areas needing volunteers:

\

  • social media planning

  • creating posts and posting on social media

  • Website Maintenance

  • Fundraising

  • Event planning

Build & Repair Volunteers

Not really an animal person? That's okay, we need help with other stuff!

Experience Required: Yes.

Animal Interaction: Interaction with the animals may happen but is not required for this volunteer opportunity

Example of Duties:

  • Machinery maintenance

  • Construction and repair of shelters

  • Fence construction and repair

  • Odd jobs around the farm

  • Paddock maintenance

  • Hay stacking (during Hay Season)

  • Fixing things that are broken by a goat (it’s a full-time job, really)
